A tradition of training…

A tradition of training…

Established in 1999, BC Landscape Training and Consultancy has provided training skills to thousands of learners in the green industries over a period of nearly two decades.

During that time, our team has become specialists in rolling out training programmes and learnerships that transform the lives of young people.

Training programmes

With a complement of 17 administrators, facilitators and managers, the organisation has developed a range of training programmes in horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture and enterprise development.

BC Landscape Training is an accredited training provider with AGRI-SETA registration certificates.  As such, we are fully accredited to deliver NQF qualifications from Levels 1 to 4 in a range of subjects suited to young people wishing to enter the sports turf, horticulture and landscaping industries.

Learnerships

With funding from foundations, corporates, municipalities, parastatals and private donors, we offer learnerships to young unemployed youth which extend from a few weeks to a year.

During the learnership periods, our facilitators give young unemployed people the skills to embark on a career in the green industries.  Our sports turf learnerships are particularly sought after as they give young people the skills to become useful and valued members of teams that manage sports fields, horse racing tracks, golf courses as well as soccer, rugby and cricket pitches.

With additional training in enterprise management, our green industry learnerships offer unemployed and marginalised youth the skills to run their businesses in the fields of garden maintenance, arboriculture, interior plantscaping, landscaping or sports turf management.

Skilled for life

Once accepted into our training or learnership programmes, young people learn skills such as invasive alien vegetation control, as well as how to operate chain saws, tractors and brush cutters.

As we aim to transform our young learners into skilled members of the green industries, our learnerships and registered unit standard training courses also cover subjects such as landscaping project management, horticultural supervisory management, irrigation installation and the application of pesticides.
