Entrepreneurial leadership
The vivacious Brunny Mautla took over the leadership at BC Landscape Training in 2016.
Mentoring and training the country’s youth so that they can learn the skills so desperately needed in the green industries has become her life’s mission.
Born in Attridgeville, Pretoria, Brunny is a BTech marketing graduate from Tshwane’s University of Technology.
A mother of three, Brunny has decades of experience working in the management of South African corporate companies such as Edgars, Standard Bank and a range of financial organisations that were eventually to be incorporated into African Bank.
Fresh from the financial world, she found her niche in the interior plantscaping business, working for companies such as Sonke Plantscapers, Execuflora (Bidvest) and her own consultancy, Red Jewel.
A pioneer in the world of interior plantscaping design and installation, Brunny found that transforming sterile offices into green eco-friendly environments was a spiritually fulfilling occupation.
This led to an absorbing interest in horticultural therapy. The joy of working with plants, the soil and nature is fundamental to understanding her desire to encourage South Africa’s youth to skill-up and join the green industries as a life career.
“Ever since I was a child, plants made me happy”, she adds. “Plants have enormous healing properties and working with plants has always inspired me.”
Today, Brunny leads a team of 17 people, all of whom are devoted to training young people in the importance of plants, landscaping and entrepreneurial leadership.
For Brunny Mautla, raising funds for training and attracting learnership sponsorship to equip South Africa’s unemployed youth with the skills they need to embark on a career in the green industries has become a personal passion and a dedicated mission.
